5 Tips to Look Better in a Headshot
You already know that you need a headshot. But do you know how to make yours the best it can be? A bad picture can turn away execs, casting directors, and producers from ever taking a look at your resume again.
To look great in your headshot, first off make sure you take care of yourself. Eat healthy, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep. Nothing will make you look worse in a photo than feeling tired or sick.
Second, you may not have the opportunity to get together with your photographer before your session but you should still do your homework and have an idea of the type of photo you are going for. It is important to research the photographers you are considering so that you can get an idea of their style as well as how much direction and involvement they will have with your headshot session.
Third, you'll want to start with the basics of what to wear & what not to wear—a well-fitting, freshly ironed garment will make you feel more confident and more relaxed.
Fourth: the colors you wear make a difference in the overall mood of your image. Stick with solid colors that are somewhat muted. That being said, if your daily style includes bright and intense colors, bring those with you and you can decide what you like better after you see the images.
Lastly, opt for professional hair & makeup, but if you do your own, keep it light. You can add more while in the studio.
